The City Builders' Stories
Key to the success story of Milton Keynes was the work of the members of the Milton Keynes Development Corporation (MKDC), the organisation appointed by the government to develop a new town in North Bucks for 250,000 people.
Our volunteers, Lee Shostak and Roger Kitchen, interviewed 35 of the staff who worked in different disciplines, recording their memories of the extraordinary times. More than 80 hours of testimony have been recorded and (so far) one feature length documentary film has been produced. Make No little Plans is a story of Milton Keynes’ early years, told by those who were part of the Development Corporation, tasked with its planning and development. It’s a story of audacity and brashness, of teamwork and tussles, of utopian dreams and a bold vision. View the film here or get your own copy of the DVD from our online shop here. |
